WERE STAPLES. IT WAS AN ENVIABLE CHILDHOOD WITHOUT PLUMBING AND
ELECTRICITY.
APRIL 1957 DUNCAN, VANCOUVER ISLAND DAD BUILT OUR NEW HOME ON
FLEISHER ROAD (LATER NAMED MARSH ROAD), $800 FOR 1/2 ACRE OF LAND AND $1200 OF MATERIAL. IT ONLY HAD ONE DOOR AND A SAWDUST BURNING STOVE FOR
HEATING AND COOKING. WE (HIS KIDS) SOLD IT FOR $118,000 IN 1995 UPON HIS DEATH. I LIVED HERE UNTIL LEAVING IN 1966 TO GO TO THE UNIVERSITY
OF VICTORIA.
